October. YAY!!
Expect cooler temps, and Indian Summer as the jetstream gets itself reorganized after the fall equinox. See some fun events, below. For safety’s sake (not to be a bummer, but…) Lisa Burnett, SL Dispatch Director, says that Halloween time may have a spike in crimes, as costumes are readily available. Got a wet/dry vac? Vacuum up leaves and use them as mulch. We’ve got a Meet-the-Canditates night coming up this month, so get excited for that, and all of this:

Box Tops at Meetings!
Many community members care about local schools but can’t volunteer their time. One thing most of us can do is collect Box Tops! Bring your Box Tops to any CHNC meet to support Washington Elementary. Find the full product list here: https://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/participating-products
Need a Gig?
Salt Lake City’s Compliance Division is currently hiring crossing guards. We’re sharing this opportunity with community councils around the city, hoping that you’ll pass along word of the opportunity to your residents. This is an ideal position for people with flexible schedules, college students, or retirees. Crossing guards work two one-hour shifts per day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. The position offers $13/hour, and the satisfaction of helping young children safely get to and from school.
The full position description and link to apply can be found here: https://external-slcgov.icims.com/jobs/3231/part-time-school-crossing-guard/job
For questions about the position, please contact Faith Martinez at Salt Lake City Compliance: 801-535-6664
