‘Tis the Season to Serve – International Rescue Committee

This holiday season we have partnered with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to
support their work of resettling refugees in our community.
Every year, the Salt Lake office of the IRC resettles hundreds of refugees, but they couldn’t do
it without the support they receive from the people of Utah.
This year, you have a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of newly
arrived refugees.

The IRC has asked our neighborhood to help in three ways:

ONE Sponsor a specific refugee family
We have been asked to purchase gifts requested by a recently arrived refugee family to
help them settle into their new home and adjust at work and at school.

TWO Purchase and donate as many of the following household items as we possibly
can (list below).

Since refugees arrive with practically nothing, they need these items to help them get a
good start here.
Also, Gift Cards to stores like Walmart, TJ Maxx, Target, or Smith’s in amounts between
$20-$50 are extremely helpful.

THREE Help in the IRC warehouse to sort, organize, and shelve donations.
You can sign up for one or more of the following shifts:
Tuesday December 27 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm
Wednesday December 28 9:00 am to 11:30 am
Thursday December 29 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm
Friday December 30 9:00 am to 11:30 am
